Cities are evolving rapidly as they face the challenges of sustainability, social inclusion, climate change, and new mobility needs. This workshop brings together professionals from a wide range of disciplines to explore how legal frameworks and innovative planning can help shape better cities. It features a keynote speech by Claudia Brey, Chairwoman of ÖBB Immobilien GmbH, and connects theory with practice through an example of a landmark redevelopment project in Vienna.
Claudia Brey has been Managing Director of the ÖBB-Immobilienmanagement GmbH, a subsidiary of the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, since 2020. The company is responsible for the development and management of all ÖBB properties not required for railway operations.
In her role as Managing Director, Brey focuses on the areas of urban development and building project development, transactions, as well as leasing and legal affairs. Prior to this, she headed the Austrian business of Generali Real Estate and managed the existing real estate portfolio of Immofinanz in Russia. She was also involved in establishing and leading the Real Estate Transaction Advisory division at EY.
Cristina Hernández-Marti Pérez is a partner at Hernandez Marti Abogados in Spain, where she specializes in intellectual property law, including trademarks, IP litigation, unfair competition, contracts, and anti-counterfeiting strategies. She holds a PhD in Law and an LL.M. from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center.
Brogan Kerr is a UK-based real estate solicitor at Brodies LLP, specialising in renewable energy development since joining the firm in October 2022. Her practice spans the full range of renewable energy technologies, including solar, onshore-wind, pumped storage and run of river hydro, and battery energy storage. Brogan represents both developers and landowners on the real estate documents that enable projects to progress from site acquisition through to financing or acquisition.
Brogan’s practice is at the intersection of real estate and renewable energy, providing an insight into how renewable development can deliver tangible benefits to the people who live alongside it – through financial contributions, biodiversity and habitat management, improved local infrastructure, and meaningful community participation.
Jesper Linder works at the intersection of law and the construction industry, bringing both in-house and private practice experience to his client work. Before joining Advokatfirman Fylgia, he served as in-house counsel at a major engineering consultancy firm, which gave him a firsthand understanding of the commercial realities his clients face day to day.
He represents suppliers and public authorities in complex procurement processes and infrastructure disputes, and advises clients at every stage of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Alongside this, he provides ongoing support on contract and corporate law matters, always with the specific demands of the construction sector in mind.
Over the past year, Jesper and his colleagues have advised technical consultants, public authorities and contractors on projects including hospital construction, the design of nuclear waste repositories, major road developments, and the expansion of Stockholm’s metro and tram networks.
Recent procurement work also includes advising on large-scale construction projects such as water treatment plants and the Aurora Line – a new 380 km, 400 kV high-voltage transmission line jointly developed by Sweden and Finland.
